Once upon a time, there was a couple who lived with their beautiful daughter in island. Besides being beautiful, she was also diligent and loved her family very much.
One day, a handsome young man from a rich and respected family in another country came to propose to the girl. The girl accepted his proposal after her family gave their blessing, and they had a very lively wedding party.
A few days after the wedding, the young man had to return to his hometown. He took his wife with him. Although it was hard, the wife had to leave her family and village as a sign of loyalty to her husband.
“My daughter, stay in your husband’s country,” said her father. “Remember, during the journey, never look back. If you do, you will become a stone!”
They departed and began the long journey to the other side. When they arrived at Lake Tawar Sea, they boarded a canoe to cross the lake.
As they were crossing, the girl suddenly heard her mother’s voice calling her name from afar. The voice kept calling, and after a while, the girl couldn’t stand it and finally looked back. Instantly, her body turned to stone.
The husband was very sad, and because of his great love, he begged God to turn himself into stone so that he could stay with his wife. After praying, his body was turned into stone. Now, the two of them are a pair of stones on the shores of the Fresh Sea Lake.
Moral of the story: From this story we learn to always listen to our parents’ advice and keep our promises.
